New York Or Nowhere
coming from someone who takes a concerning amount of trips to New york city, here is a consolidation of my favorite spots in the city. enjoy!
Restaurants
MONO+MONO
The interior combines art deco musical antiques, modernist quasi-industrial elements and 15,000 vinyl records encased along its walls. The Korean fusion dishes they serve are also a big plus.
AOI Kitchen
Unfortunately this restaurant has closed, but still needs to be placed on the list. The interior and vibes of AOI was arguably one of the best parts, with city pop music softly playing throughout the restaurant. They served a mixture of Japanese and Western dishes at a fair price point
Izakaya Mew
Located in the basement of an unassuming building, this restaurant focuses on izakaya style dining, and serves other dishes perfect for self or sharing. It has a similar vibe to AOI Kitchen, but keep in mind that it fills up suprisingly quickly.
Cute Shops
niconeco zakkaya
Stationery shop that sells items ranging from posters to journals to stickers and other little trinkets. A plus because cats seem to be the main theme of this small store
Goods for the Study Mulberry
A more upscale and grown up version of niconeco zakkaya. This store has all the stationaries one might need. And their next door neighbour specializes in rows and rows of writing instruments too.
TESO Life
This store I visit each and every time, as it stocks products such as homegoods, blind boxes, skincare, makeup and snacks. And each time I leave with a huge bag in my hands. Plus it is located in k-town, which makes it so convenient.
Cafes
HEYTEA
Not really considered a cafe, but I think it still counts. I might be obsessed with this tea place, especially with the mango pomelo sago drink. But it has the perfect amount of mango and sago, and its not too sweet either.
From Lucie
A cute french cafe that serves homemade cakes and other pastries. The cozy interior of the cafe coupled with the decorations makes it feel like you’re eating dessert in a small cottage in Europe.
Kuih Cafe
This is my absolute favorite and must get each time I go to New York. They serve homemade Malaysian desserts, and they have a rotating menu each weekend letting customers try new dishes.
Others
central park
I can’t believe it took me so long to actually visit the fountain and staircase where so many movies were filmed. Mostly due to the fact it is kind of far. But I finally went recently and the autumn colors made the experience so much better.
